There's no way I could ever prove this within my lifetime, but I think I may have a possible material explanation for how deities exist in our universe. The explanation is a thought experiment, and requires a basic grasp of one's imagination to understand it. Here goes: do you know how we human beings realize we are composed of smaller and smaller units of matter? We are humans, made of tissues, made of cells, made of proteins, made of molecules, made of atoms, made of the various subatomic particles... who knows how far that rabbit hole goes? But that's only one direction of the rabbit hole. In the other direction, we humans are tiny pieces of some much larger being, a being as abstract to us as we are to the atom. While it's certainly no proof for the existence of God or anything like that, the concept is the closest I can come to actually describing the material existence of a deity.
